What is TheLookRightNow?

TheLookRightNow is the only 100% user generated fashion, trend and style resource. As users upload, rate and share pictures of their latest styles, TheLookRightNow calculates which styles and trends are most popular, displays them in real time on a state-of-the-art wall of images and tags, and keeps a historical record. It is also a great place to share your favorite outfits with your friends, make new friends and find inspiration and style tips.

How Do I Use The Site?

There are several levels of interaction on TheLookRightNow that span from more passive to very active.

The easiest and most passive way to use the site is to simply browse the images. The site is full of pictures and any one can be selected and enlarged. You can either view a larger version of the image or the details about the item (category, tags, price, etc). You don’t need to create an account to view or enlarge any of the images.
If you would like to be a more active user on the site, you can create an account and upload images of your own. By creating your Closet you have can upload an unlimited amount of images, post text about your style and images, and constantly tweak which images you would like to be prominently featured. You can also add items to your Closet from anywhere else on the site and connect with other users by adding them to your Entourage.
The third level of interaction is by rating images. By enlarging any image on the site, you are given the option to rate it on a sliding scale. Just slide the arrow from one end to the other to select a rating. Once you’ve selected a rating, you will see how everyone else on the site rated the same outfit. You do not need to create an account to rate images.

The Homepage

The Latest Looks

The most prominent feature of the site is the large wall of images and list of tags that appears on the homepage. It is an excellent tool for discovering trends and finding out what everyone else is wearing. This Trend Wall is a real time display of the most popular image and tags on the site at that moment. You can enlarge any image, rate it and add it to your Closet (if you are a registered user).

The Latest Looks window is automatically populated with the images that 1) have tags that are being uploaded frequently 2) are rated the highest or 3) have been added to several users’ Closets. The most popular tags are displayed on the left side of the Trend Wall and are in descending order of popularity. By selecting any of the tags from the list, the Trend Wall will repopulated with all of the images associated with that tag.

My Closet

If you are logged in, the My Closet window on the right side of the page will display your profile information, your Current Look and the top four other users in your Entourage (There is more on both of these functions in the My Closet section below.) If you are not logged in, this window will give you the option to log in, register and gives a brief description of the site.

Rate This Look

Just to the right of The Latest Looks window is the Rate This Look tool. Random images are pulled from the site and presented to the user for rating. After using the sliding scale to rate the first image presented, a new image will automatically load and you can see the average of everyone else’s rating for the previous image. You can rate as many images as you like and, while rating, view the details of any of the outfits or add them to your Closet.

Fashion Dilemma - Coming Soon

Underneath the Rate This Look tool is a small yellow arrow that toggles between the Rate This Look and Fashion Dilemma windows. The Fashion Dilemma tool is an innovative new way to get instant feedback from the community and help users decide which outfit to wear in real time. When this function is selected, you are presented with two different images uploaded by the same user. By selecting the outfit you think looks better, a new Fashion Dilemma will load and you will see how the rest of the community voted on the previous Fashion Dilemma.

All of the results are recorded and users can view the results of their Fashion Dilemmas in their Closets. Users also have the option of adding a time limit to their Fashion Dilemmas (if they have a date in 3 hours, for example). The Fashion Dilemmas with time limits are given priority in the Fashion Dilemma window.

The Look Right Now

At the bottom of the page is a window with seven large images. At the end of the week, the seven most popular images are selected from The Latest Looks window and placed in The Look Right Now window. These are the trends that defined the previous week. Each set of seven images is then archived in The Look Back Then trend archive and can be viewed at anytime. It is a comprehensive collection of the most popular trends as determined by the sites users.

Fashion Icons

The Fashion Icons window at the top of the page displays thumbnails of two categories of users on the site 1) those with the most outfits in their Closet and 2) those that have recently joined. This is a fun way to find other people on the site and explore new styles. You can toggle between to the two types of users and the images by clicking on the “Most Recent” or “Most Outfits” link and the images in the window will repopulated. By clicking on any of the images in the window, you can access those users’ Closets.

My Closet

My Style

The My Style allows you to display your personal information as well information about your favorite influences, brands/designers, places to shop and style secrets. This is a great place to express yourself, share some of your personal tidbits and learn something new from other user’s Closets.

My Current Look

This area, at the top right of your Closet, is where you can display the outfits or items from your Closet that you are currently wearing. It is an easy way to highlight your newest looks and the items that define your style right now. All of these items can be pulled directly from the rest of your Closet. When viewing other peoples’ Current Looks you can enlarge, view the details and rate any of the images. You can also add any of them to your Closet.

All My Looks

Directly next to My Current Look is All My Looks, where the all of the items in your Closet are collected. You can sort through the images by “Most Recently Added” and “Highest Rated”. When viewing other peoples’ Looks, you can enlarge, view the details of and rate any of the images. You can also add any of them to your Closet.

I Like Your Style

Below the Current Looks and All My Looks windows are all of the profiles of the people in your Entourage. These are links to the other Closest of users that are your friends, who have a cool style or who you look to for inspiration. You can add any user to your Entourage by viewing their Closet and clicking on the “Add To My Entourage” button. You can sort your Entourage by “Recently Added” and “Most Fashionable”. The “Most Fashionable” feature sorts them by who has the highest rated items in their Closet.
